This clinic is aimed at newer turners to help answer the questions of “Where can I find wood to turn?” and “How do I prepare wood I find to turn on my lathe?”

We will discuss various ethical sources of free, or nearly free, wood for turning that you have very near to you that you may not have thought of yet. We will then talk about what has to be done to make that wood usable, ranging from doing nothing (green turning) to rough/twice turning, methods of drying and ways to cut larger pieces into usable blanks that are easier to handle and easier to dry along with how to prepare them to dry them with minimal checking.

We will be discussing chainsaw usage but will not be using a chainsaw in class.
